Jerome J. “Jerry” Mottet, 73, a resident of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida.
His funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
He was born February 21, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Paul H. & Regina K. (Dalton) Mottet and was a U.S. Army veteran. On October 11, 1958, he was united in marriage to Josephine K. Cornick in Iowa City. She preceded him in death on January 20, 1996. On September 25, 2002, he was united in marriage to Bette Paulsen in Port St. Joe, Florida.
Jerry was employed as an x-ray technologist in the health care field for many years.
He was a member of the Piedmont Golf & Bowling Group, enjoyed cruise travel, boating and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bette; his sons, David J. (Sue) Mottet of Loretto, Minnesota, Michael P. (Tammy) Mottet of Atlanta, Georgia and Chad A. (Shelley) Mottet of East Moline, Illinois; and his sisters, Martha Bauer, Katherine Dickens and Marilyn Dickens, all of Iowa City.
In addition to his first wife, his brother, Charles, preceded him in death.
