Jerry W. Scholey, 60, a resident of Georgetown, Indiana and formerly of Davenport, Iowa died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 9, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born January 30, 1943 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Weldon & Faye (Smith) Scholey. On June 5, 1966, he married Darla J. Travis in Eldora, Iowa.
Jerry was employed in quality assurance for Parker-Hannifin (the former Dayco Company) for the past 23 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Viet Nam Conflict and was an accomplished woodworker.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darla; his daughters & sons-in-law, Tami & Tony Newell of Andalusia, Illinois and Candace & Roger Chihak of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; his grandchildren, Dylan, Reilly & Landyn Newell and Abigail, Mildred, Paul Lee, Charlie & Quincy Chihak; his mother, Faye Scholey of Davenport; and his brothers, David Scholey & his special friend, Jean Parric and Roger Scholey & his wife, Sharon, all of Davenport and Keith Scholey & his wife, Jeannie of Galesburg, Illinois.
Jerry was preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Galbraith on September 27, 2003 and his father in 1992.
