James M. Ryan, 81, a lifelong Davenport resident, left us on October 17, 2022. Jim was born in 1941, to James Sr. and Mabel (Hoeper) Ryan.
He was a Davenport letter carrier for thirty years, then spent thirteen years at Bob’s Body Shop, then fourteen years as a Wal-Mart bike assembler before failing health forced him to retire for good.
In 1962 Jim married Jean Collier and they had two children, Tamara (Mark) Wagoner, and James (Cindy) Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Mable Ryan and stepfather, Laverne. He is also preceded by his daughter; Tamara, sisters; Melissa (Chuck) Confer, Carol Kirk, Pamela Merriman, and brother, LaVerne Mayers Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of sixty years, son; James, brother; Robert Mayers, six grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie) McGregor, Heather Ryan, Jeremy and Daniel Wagoner, Jameson and Breccan Ryan, four great-grandchildren; Gwyneth and Addison McGregor, Kane Ryan and Nahla Wagoner. Also, Steve Collier and Barb and Dick Bryant, family not by blood but by love.
As per Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation rites have been accorded. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting family with arrangements.
