Jimmie Lee Blayney, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf, Iowa.  He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home.

He was born in Nevada, Iowa on January 18, 1936, the son of Darwin Mack and Helen Elizabeth (Corbin) Blayney and was a graduate of Davenport High School.

Jimmie served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 5th Class.

On November 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rita Mae Lehman in Bettendorf.  She preceded him in death on December 18, 2008.

Jimmie was employed as a purchasing agent for the Rockingham-Lunex Company of Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

His memberships included the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Elks Lodge.  In his spare time he loved to play golf, enjoyed playing cards and liked music as well.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons, William Lee (Olivia) Blayney of Mokena, Illinois, Patrick James (Cynthia) Blayney of Geneva, Illinois and Daniel Dean Blayney of Wheaton, Illinois; nine grandchildren; his sister, Doretta (Bob) Lathrop of Rock Falls, Illinois; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Roush; his step-father, Bernard Roush; his father, Darwin Mack Blayney; and his sister & brother-in-law, Sue Ann and Charles Vosburgh.
