Joan Long, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Joan was born March 27, 1933 in Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Cecil & Dorothy (Hadsell) Hays. She was united in marriage to Loren R. Long on May 3, 1958 in Aledo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2003.
Joan enjoyed cooking, playing cards with her family and friends and going to the boat.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Christine & Shawn Sidders of Bartonville, Illinois; her son, Rick Long of Davenport; her grandchildren, Justin, Zachary and Taylor Sidders; her sister and brother-in-law, Jean & Bill Crump of Bettendorf; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur & Judy Hays of Colchester, Illinois; sister-in-law, Susie Long of Lisbon, who helped care for her while she was ill; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and her special friends, Mary Haley, Marilyn Marten and Betsy Baumer.
In addition to her husband, Loren, Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sharon Ann; and her brothers, William, Paul & Ernie.
