Joan E. Wales, 74, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at her home following an extended illness.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, LeClaire. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa and one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family.
Joan was born November 14, 1932 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore & Belle (Frame) Jost. On August 10, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard Wales in Clinton.
She was employed at the former Jansen Jewelers in Davenport, Iowa for 14 years and as a teller at the Great River Bank & Trust in LeClaire for 7 years.
Joan was a member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Church and it’s Altar & Rosary Society.
Among the things she enjoyed were quilting, trips to Door County, Wisconsin and doing crossword puzzles. The love of her family and her many special friends were probably the most important thing in Joan’s life.
Those left to honor her memory include her beloved husband, Dick; her sons, Gregory Wales & his wife, Sharon of Davenport and Douglas Wales & his wife, Bridget of Milan, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and her loyal and beloved dog, “Stormy.”
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter Catherine Wales in 1986; and by her parents.
