Joel was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Joseph James and Violet (Dewald) Mulloy. On July 18, 1981 in Davenport, he married Janice Gibbs. They later divorced.
Joel was a handy man and considered a “jack of all trades.” He worked for Continental Cement Company where he was instrumental in the organization of their union. Joel graduated with honors from Scott Community College and became a HVAC technician. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he was actively involved in the men’s group. Joel was a volunteer fire fighter for Bettendorf Fire and Rescue. He enjoyed building things “oversized” and helping his friends. Joel cherished his time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Matthew and Patrick Mulloy, both of Bettendorf and Travis Marshall of Woodward; two grandsons, Logan and Cole; his mother, Violet Mulloy of Carroll; sister, Kathi (William) Peters of Carroll; two brothers, Tim Mulloy of Sioux Falls, SD and Chuck (Linda) Mulloy of Mountain View, CA; nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends and fellow fire fighters.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Tom Mulloy.
