Joel L. Schlump, 53, of LeClaire, Iowa, died suddenly on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at his home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 20, 2009 at Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the church.
Joel was born January 16, 1956 in Davenport, the son of Herbert & Violet (Fletcher) Schlump. He had been employed for over 20 years as a cement truck driver for the W & G Block Company in Davenport.
Joel enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. He was quick to help out others in need and will be remembered for his kind nature to his family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his brothers, John (Laurel) Schlump, of Charles City, Iowa and James Schlump of LeClaire; his nieces, Lisa (Derek) Ball, of Davenport and Dr. Lesley (Chad) Mentele of Johnston, Iowa; his nephews, Chris Ryder of LeClaire and Scott (Christine) Dreher, of LeClaire; and six grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents.
