Johannah Cary

d. March 5, 2013

Johannah L. Cary, 29, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Johannah was born July 24, 1983 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Rita Ervin & Andrew Speer.  She grew up in and attended Pleasant Valley schools.  She enjoyed kayaking and fishing.  Her favorite fishing hole was a small lake in southern Iowa.  A place here family and friends shared many great memories.  Due to her disabilities, Johannah was a homemaker.  She had a big and warm heart and passed that on to her beautiful son, Lucas, just an all-around good boy.  Kids don’t come by that on their own.

Johannah was very generous and was always one to do a favor for anyone.  A lot of life’s curveballs thrown at her went around.  She always got back up from the direct hits.  She was a very strong girl with strong memories that she has passed on to the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Lucas Parris, at home; her parents, Rita & Andrew of Pleasant Valley; her brother, Danny (Stacey) Cary of Panorama Park; her nephew, Chance Cary; and her special friend, Jeff Nied.

Johannah was preceded in death by her grandfather, Tooney Ervin; her great-grandmother, Louisa Johannah;  her uncles, Bob Ervin, Pat Gimm & Tommy Harbin; her cousins, Randy Ervin and Mackenzie Ervin; and Danny Cary Sr.
