John W. Boesch, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of LeClaire, Iowa died on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Bettendorf where he was a faithful member. He will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Bill Museum of LeClaire or Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was born August 26, 1929 in Milton, Iowa, the son of John & Viola (Ellingsworth)
Boesch. On January 5, 1980, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley A. Seidel in Moline, Illinois.
John was employed at the Alcoa Company, Davenport Works retiring in 1987 as the Superintendant of Mill Maintenance after 30 years of faithful service.
In addition to the church, he was a member of the Alcoa Retirees and Snow Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M. of LeClaire. He was a tireless member & volunteer at the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire where he devoted many hours of work, fundraising and generation of community support.
He & Shirley loved to dance, enjoyed traveling our country in their Airstream and playing cards with their many friends. John was an avid golfer and had a great interest in antiques.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Shirley; his daughter, Deborah Ackerman of Bettendorf; his son, John A. (Holly) Boesch in Washington State; his step-daughter, Lynn (Joe) Farrell of Claremont, California; his step-sons, Matt (Maureen) Mueller of Phoenix, Arizona and Kirk (Karen) Mueller of El Segundo, California; his grandchildren, Chad Ackerman, J.D. Boesch, Matt Boesch, Matthew Mueller, Peter Mueller, Emily Mueller, Alex Mueller and Douglas Farrell; his sisters, Virginia Franklin of Davenport, Iowa and Rosanna Hailstone of Bossier City, Louisiana; his brother, Frank A. Boesch of Manteca, California; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
