John William Boten

A celebration of life for John W. Boten, 81, of Bettendorf, will take place at a later date. John passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at The Summit of Bettendorf.

​John was born on September 21, 1942, in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Myron and Ruth (Anderson) Boten. He married Judy Eileen Burrack on October 9, 1965, in Farmersburg, Iowa, after earning his bachelor’s degree from ISU. Judy preceded him in death on December 18, 2023 after 58 years of marriage.  John worked as an accountant and executive for John Deere for 37 years, retiring in 2002. 

John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (ELCA), Moline, IL. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing and traveling. He always made time for his kids to do those things. He served in the U.S. Marines and also the National Guard.

​Survivors include his children, Carol (Frank Gordon) Boten of Lebanon, Ohio, Russell (Lisa Zionkowski-Boten) Boten of Camas, Washington, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife,his daughter, Patricia Lynn, his brother, Larry Boten and sister, Mary Twedt.
