John Anthony Brown, 58, of Conyers, Georgia, formerly of Pleasant Valley and Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 8, 2004 at Rockland Hospital in Conyers after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 15, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2200 Lake Blvd., Atlanta, Georgia 30319.
John was born on December 30, 1945 in Washington D.C., the son of Louis S. and Helen M. (Nirich) Brown. He was raised in Bettendorf and attended Pleasant Valley High School. He was united in marriage to Marsha B. Lockwood on April 10, 1965 in Moline, Illinois.
He was employed by John Deere in East Moline, Illinois and was later transferred to Conyers retiring in 1996 after thirty years of service.
He was also the former president of U.A.W. Local 1710 in East Moline. John enjoyed motorcycles, old cars, a good laugh, and was proud to be an American. John was a devoted son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend to many.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of forty years, Marsha; his mother, Helen M. Brown; his sons, Rob L. Brown and Martin A. Brown & his wife, Lisa; his grandson, Austin, and his granddaughter, Sidney, all of Conyers; his aunt, Mary Robinson of Bar Harbor, Maine; his uncle John Nirich & his wife, Francis of Haymarket, Virginia; and his nephews, Mark Pickering and Nicholas Brown
John was preceded in death by his father; and by his brother, Robert.
