John A. Kuhl, 83, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to his wife, Jill Kuhl.
He was born on February 16, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Elsie (Hamann) Kuhl. He served in the Iowa National Guard and received an honorable discharge in August of 1961. On June 30, 2001, John was united in marriage to Jill Judd in Eldridge.
John worked as a semi-truck driver for the H.F. Kroeger Trucking Company of Eldridge, retiring after many years of faithful service.
His current and former memberships included Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge, the Eldridge Lions Club and the Eldridge Jaycees where he served on the board of directors.
In his spare time, John loved playing cards with his family and friends, enjoyed computers and technology and looked forward to road trips to visit family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jill; children, Sally (Michael) Buford in Louisiana, Steve Kuhl in Florida, Thomas (Carolyn) Kuhl in Florida, Dennis Kuhl in Kentucky, Jud (Erin) Fawcett of Burlington, Iowa, Nathan (Renee) Fawcett in North Carolina and Adam (Amanda) Fawcett of Burlington; twenty-seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Alice Snyder in Florida; and his brother, Earl (Dorothy) Kuhl of Eldridge.
John was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Kuhl; and his sister, Arlene Glunz.
Jill extends a special thanks to Nurse Mary for her loving and compassionate care shown to John during his illness.
