John F. Ladenburger, 75, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.
Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Food Pantry.
John was born June 24, 1939 in Wahoo, Nebraska, the son of John O. & Emma (Kavan) Ladenburger. He was united in marriage to Margaret E. “Peggy” Kutzke on August 8, 1993 in Rock Island, Illinois.
John was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Logistics Specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2000. In addition to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he was a member of the American Political Science Association. John enjoyed photography, travelling and music.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Peggy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie & Samuel Larson of Dublin, Pennsylvania and Jacki & Steve Florentius of Ramsey, Minnesota; his son and daughter-in-law, John A. & Indira Ladenburger of Bettendorf; his step-daughters, Beth & David Okas of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Gail Freeman of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Patti & Nick Horan of North English, Iowa; and sixteen grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Emily Sabata and Nadine Racek.
