John Nevlacsek passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2016, after a long illness.
John was born to Johan and Ida Nevlacsek on Aug 20, 1929, in Galati, Romania.
After the war, while in Germany, he apprenticed as a boilermaker.
He immigrated to the United States in 1951, moving to Davenport. John began his career, first as a millwright for the Red Jacket Manufacturing Co. and, through persistent education, retired 49 years later as an industrial engineer.
John married Marilla Huebner on July 23, 1956.
He also served in the Army National Guard for 13 years.
The man could repair anything; he enjoyed gardening and was a Scoutmaster. He was involved with the Bettendorf Folk Festival and was a member of DANK. John loved to dance and, at one time, was an instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Marilla; his sister, Engelberta; and his two sons, Kevin and Lorence.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Stephanie; and his brother, Lorence.
