John Lincoln Peiffer, 52, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf where he was a devout member. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
John was born on February 26, 1962 in Davenport, the son of Gene & Kathleen (Quinn) Peiffer. Growing up, John was an avid baseball player, playing little league and up. From 1994 to 2004, John also coached Girls’ Fast Pitch Softball with his sister, Mona, which enabled him to be involved in the game again and where he led their teams to 8 championships.
John was employed as a Legal Secretary with Arthur Buzzell in Davenport. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Los Angeles Rams. John, his father, his brothers and his friends spent many hours on annual fishing trips and hunting. He loved the time with his family, playing games with them, attending concerts and watching movies, old and new. John will be remembered for his compassion, his sense of humor, his quick wit, his strength and his demeanor. He is an inspiration and will be missed by those who love him.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Kathleen Wiseman of Bettendorf; his sisters, Roseanne (Mike) Deahl of Davenport and Mona Peiffer of Bettendorf; his brothers, Doug Peiffer of Bettendorf and Bill (Naomi) Peiffer of Rock Island; his nieces, Rachal & Gina Deahl of Davenport and Taylor Peiffer of Atlanta, Georgia; and his great-niece, Jeannette of Davenport.
John was preceded in death by his father; his step-father, Bob Wiseman; and his grandparents where he now walks with them in heaven.
