John F. Arndt, 62, of Hayward, Wisconsin, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at his home in DeWitt, Iowa after a courageous battle with lymphoma for 15 years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 4, 2008 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
John was born July 13, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Mary (Hepburn) Arndt. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1968.
John had been an ironworker in Chicago and Rock Island and he had been a member of Iron Workers Local 1 in Chicago and Local 111 in Rock Island. He retired in 2002 from the City of LeClaire as a maintenance supervisor.
He had enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his beloved family. He will be greatly missed.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lynda; his daughters, Jennifer Iraci, of New Lennox, Illinois, Jessica McCollam, of Dewitt and Jennifer Brooks, of Bettendorf; his sons, William Arndt, of McHenry, Illinois, John Arndt, of New Lennox, Jared Arndt, of Dewitt, Jason Remaly, of Moline, Illinois and Justin Remaly of Ankeny, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; his brothers, Bill Arndt, of Calamus, Iowa and Bob Arndt of Donahue, Iowa; his parents-in-law, Emril & Martha Schieberl; and his beloved dog, Sadie.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George; and his sister Elizabeth.
