John F. Wiand, 91, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 6, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of LeClaire.
John was born June 4, 1914 in Troy Township, Iowa, the son of William H. and Mae (Barnwell) Wiand. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Lessenger on June 15, 1940 in Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2003.
John retired from the former International Harvester Works in 1975 after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his beloved family.
Those left to honor his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell & Susan Wiand, of Blue Grass, Iowa; his grandchildren, Julia Hintz, and her husband, David, of Illinois City, Illinois, Brenda Genthe, and her husband, Jeff, of Colorado, and Barry Bowker, and his wife, Teri, of Princeton, Iowa; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; his sisters, Mabel Ross, of Bettendorf, and Maxine Snook of Arizona; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Crystal Wiand, of Des Moines, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Sally J. Louck, and Judith A. Arnold; his sisters, Pearl & Rosie; and his brothers, Raymond, Russell, and Emmett.
