John M. Lorenzen, 75, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at his home following an extended illness.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where he was a member. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or the First United Methodist Church of Clinton where he was a former member.
He was born January 31, 1933 in Clinton, the son of John Hans & Ebba (Berglund) Lorenzen. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1952 to 1956. He also served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer in 1973.
On August 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Bonne Page in Moline, Illinois.
John retired in September of 1998 from Trinity Medical Center in Moline after 17 years of service. He formerly was employed at Clinton Corn in Clinton for 17 years.
He was an avid photographer and was a member of camera clubs in Clinton and the Quad-Cities. He also enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He and his wife enjoyed visiting many places throughout the world
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bonne; his daughters, Kim (Andy) Ranson of Long Grove, Iowa and Kara (James) Huntsberger of Durant, Iowa; his grandchildren, Austin & Kahlen Ranson; and his sister, Sylvia Jo-Ann Lorenzen of Clinton.
His parents and his brother, Bill in 1996, preceded John in death.
