John M. P. Houk

John M. P. Houk, 72, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born May 1, 1932 in Princeton, Missouri, the son of Charles Andrew & Matilda (Washburn) Houk. He was united in marriage to Joyce M. Hicks in Rock Island, Illinois on February 27, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2001.
John was a retired security guard with Per-Mar Security.
His family, especially his grandchildren were the joys in his life.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Veta M. Burney and Katrina I. Houk, both of Davenport; his sons & daughters-in-law, Terry L. & Stacey Houk of Blue Grass, Iowa, Archie A. & Betty Houk and Mark C. & Kim Houk, all of Davenport; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Cleo Hoskins of Princeton, Missouri.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, John A. Houk in 1994 and Mike S. Houk in 1987.
