John R. Smith

John R. Smith, 58, of Eldridge, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Graveside services will follow at Mount Union Cemetery in McCausland, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Vera French Community Mental Health Center in Davenport.
John was born May 19, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Merle E. & Leota M. (Parker) Smith. He was united in marriage to Faye E. Hamilton on April 16, 1983 in LeClaire, Iowa.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Faye; his daughters, Stacey Holt of Center, Texas, Genni Hill, of Davenport, Christine Smith, of Davenport and Carrie Smith of Eldridge; his son, John (Tammy) Smith, of Center; six grandchildren; his mother, Leota (Bob) Parker, of Aledo, Illinois; and his sister, Carolyn (Mike) Nelson, of Orion, Illinois.
John was preceded in death by his father.
