John W. Dyke, 58, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Bristol, Vermont died on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf following an extended illness.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. A memorial service will be held in Vermont at a later date.
He was born September 24, 1948 in Jeffersonville, Vermont, the son of Ernest R. & Lura (Jackson) Dyke. On December 21, 1991, he was united in marriage to Diana L. Wells in Bristol, Vermont.
John was employed as the kitchen supervisor at the Davenport Country Club for 12 years and in earlier years, worked for Valley Foundation in Bristol.
He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Diana; his daughter, Nicole Dyke of Bettendorf; his son, Michael (Jana) Gilbraith of Bettendorf; other special family members, Ale & Jason; his grandchildren, Brennan, Shannon, Kayla, Jasmine & Jace; his sister, Nancy (Dennis) Barr of South Woodstock, Vermont; his brothers, Raymond (Cecile) Dyke of Hardwick, Vermont, Robert (Laurie) Dyke of Monkton, Vermont and Roy Dyke of Bristol, Vermont; his nieces & nephews, Abigail, Jillian, Christopher, Sarah, Wendy, Tabitha & Lisa; and several aunts & uncles.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Susan Dyke.
