Joseph Carrillo

January 30, 1936 — May 11, 2013

Joseph H. “Joe” Carrillo, 77, of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home with his family at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf with visitation until 7:00 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be made to Joe’s family.
Joe was born on January 30, 1936 in Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Jose and Rosa (Sanchez) Carrillo.  Joe married Linda Orr.
Joe and Linda currently owned and operated Su Casa Taco House in Bettendorf. The family started their business on the strip in Rock Island in 1970. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. He loved spending time at the restaurant, making soft shell tacos and critiquing sports with his customers.  Joe was an excellent bowler and was recently inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Joe cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Linda Carrillo; three daughters, Dawn (Jerry) Carrillo-Downs, Kim (Joe) Pollock and Shawn (Darren) Carrillo-Jewel; nine grandchildren, Danyelle (Rob) Kruppe, Casey (Sarah) Evans, Alexis Rountree, Travis (Erin) Rountree, Jonathan (Nicki) Schwertman, Jack (Brianna) Schwertman, Kimberly (Ramil) Sosa, Cody (Jamie) Long and Jared Jewel  and four great grandchildren; five sisters, Helen Camarena, Peggy McDevitt, Rose (Al) Beh, Rita Carrillo and Rachel Kraus; two brothers, Ruben (Sandy) Carrillo and Richard Carrillo; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ruben, Christopher and Rudy; and two sisters, Elvira and Juanita.
