Josephine Keel

Josephine May Keel, 90, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Born on June 18, 1925 in Bettendorf, Josephine was the daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Charvat) Krucker. On August 9, 1941 in Davenport, she married Howard Keel. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2005.
Josephine worked for Montgomery Ward for 25 years and for Farm and Fleet for 6 years. She was a member of the Plus 60 Club and L.I.F.T. Josephine enjoyed crocheting, needlework, baking and going to the casino. She greatly enjoyed the company of her dog, Rocky.
Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses: Howard G. (Vicki) Keel of LeClaire, Josephine M. (Robert) Sparbel of Muscatine, Sharon L. (David) Schlitter of Davenport, Jerry A. (Norma) Keel of Bettendorf and Robert L. Keel (Robert Murphy) of Tampa, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Hodges.
