Judith Ann Paxston, 71, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at her home surrounded by her beloved family following an extended illness.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. She will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.

She was born in Iowa City, Iowa on September 26, 1940, the daughter of Edward & May (Ruckharber) Thornton. On October 20, 1956, she was united in marriage to William F. Paxston in LeClaire.

Judy was a devoted wife, mom, grandma & great-grandma. She loved traveling and camping in their motor home and also enjoyed fishing (but not taking the fish off the hook). Judy also liked to play Rolle Bolle and was an avid bowler as well. Her family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she will be sadly missed by those who knew & loved her.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of nearly 56 years, Bill; her sons, Jeff (Nancy) Paxston of Atkinson, Illinois, Tim (Becky) Paxston of LeClaire and Brian Paxton of LeClaire; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Nita Bowers of Bettendorf and Joan Taber of LeClaire; her brother, Tony (Kate) Thornton of Princeton, Iowa; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her sisters, Margie Winkler, Duff Taber, Eunie Joens and Jean Parrick; her brother, Tom Thornton; and an infant brother.
