Julia H. Claussen

Julia Hermina Claussen, 79, of Eldridge, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge where she was a charter resident.
According to Julia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. The family will have a private memorial service at a later time. Memorials may be made to the Grand Haven Nurses Scholarship Fund
She was born Julia Hermina Jirus on August 13, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of Adolph & Hermina (Zelba) Jirus. She was united in marriage to Eldon Claussen on February 4, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Julia was a city girl who became a farmer’s wife in rural Eldridge. She was employed at Von Maur in Northpark Mall, Davenport, in the alterations department for 17 years. Julia was an avid quilter and seamstress.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Judy Welch, Toledo, Iowa, Rhea Green, Long Grove, Iowa and Mike Claussen, Kaufman, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Jirus, Davenport.
In addition to her husband, Eldon, she was preceded in death by her parents.
