Julie Kay Auliff, 49, a resident of Walcott, Iowa died on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus in Rock Island, Illinois following a courageous 9-month battle with leukemia.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 6, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends at the church following the service. Private family interment services will take place at Summitt Cemetery, rural Davenport. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Trinity Health Foundation. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born December 28, 1956 in Davenport, the daughter of Ronald G. & Jeanette M. (Matzen) Stoltenberg and was a graduate of Davenport Central High School. On October 2, 1976, she was united in marriage to Robert H. “Pete” Auliff at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Julie was a devoted homemaker, wife & mother who also operated a small stained glass business from her home. Most recently, she worked with Reliable Vending of Davenport.
She was a loyal volunteer in 4-H, a member & past-president of the Walcott Dad’s Club and a member of the Walcott Women of Today.
An avid flower gardener, she raised & cared for over 200 varieties of day lilies as well as many other flowers at her home. Riding her Harley was also a favorite activity of Julie’s.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Pete; her daughters, Katrina M. (Brock) DeToye and Elizabeth R. Auliff, all of Davenport; her son, Jacob R. Auliff of Des Moines, Iowa; her parents, Ronald & Jeanette Stoltenberg of Davenport; her sisters, Angela I. (Scott) Neubauer of Minnetonka, Minnesota and Christine A. (Patrick) Cannon of Davenport; her brother, Andrew (Kathryn) Stoltenberg of Bennett, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Karen Auliff of LeClaire, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Peg (Ken) Ferris of Plainview, Iowa and Kelly (Rod DeBlieck) Auliff of East Moline, Illinois; her brothers-in-law, John Auliff of Florence Mississippi and Joe (Cathy) Auliff of DeWitt, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Auliff in 2004.
