June A. Hunt, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
There will be no formal service or visitation. Her remains will be cremated as per her request and laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born May 23, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Louis Chalmers & Verna Vesta (Brodie) Pearce. On October 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Jack Hunt in New Orleans, Louisiana. He preceded her in death in 1980.
June worked in receiving department of the former Sears, Roebuck & Company in downtown Davenport for over 20 years.
She enjoyed writing letters & cards to her many friends and was an excellent cook. In earlier years, she was active in the school & sporting activities of her sons as they grew up.
June was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Richard Hunt of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Sara Hunt and Steven Hunt Jr.; six great-grandchildren; special nieces, Susan Zirbes of Bettendorf and Linda Barker of Tinley Park, Illinois; special nephew, Chuck Cruson of Louisville, Kentucky; and very special friends, Deanna Timm of Durant, Iowa and Heidi Cruson of Bettendorf.
In addition to her husband, June was preceded in death by her son, Steven Hunt; her sister, Louise Cruson; and her brother, Richard Pearce.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Heartland Hospice and the staff of the Davenport Lutheran Home, especially Shelly, Carla, Teri & Melissa for the love & care shown to June and to her family.
