Karla Geerts

Karla D. Geerts, 45, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home.
Funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 th at the funeral home and from 12 Noon until the time of services on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family. In honor of Karla, her family asks those attending the visitation and funeral to wear Green Bay Packers attire or to dress casually, wearing green.
Born on October 15, 1968 in Davenport, Karla was the daughter of Clifford and Mattie (Jones) Shaffer. On August 13, 1988 in Davenport, Karla married Brian Geerts.
Karla worked as an office manager and assisted with clerical duties for her husband’s business. She enjoyed fishing, softball, traveling and her pets. Karla was an avid Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Phillies fan. She attended the First Assembly of God in Bettendorf. Karla cherished her time spent with family, especially her children.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Brian; sons, Joshua Geerts of Bettendorf and Joseph Geerts of Davenport; daughter, Annamarie Geerts of Bettendorf; sisters, Kate (Scott Hutchison) Goode of Davenport and Mary (Jay) Belk of Ft. Hood, TX; half-sister, Kim (Eddie) McDonald of Phoenix, AZ; and brother, David (Hollie) Shaffer of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rachel; brother-in-law, Doug Geerts and father-in-law, Dean Evans.
