Katherine C. Schawrz, 91, a resident of LeClaire, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Manor Care – Locust St. in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Born on April 17, 1925 in LeClaire, Katherine was the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (VonHein) Vance.
Katherine worked in the circulation department for the Quad City Times. She had a great passion for sports, proudly watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Katherine enjoyed going to baseball games with her grandchildren, taking her girls to drive-in movies, family gatherings at Tugfest, a friendly game of cards, Old-Maid and Scrabble.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Sherry (Dan) Fisher of Davenport, Terri Pulse of Bettendorf and Patty (Dewey) Lacefield of LeClaire and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers.
