Kathleen Grant

Kathleen Mae Grant, 81, of Eldridge, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her home with her daughters by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Eldridge United Methodist Church where she was a Charter Member.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.  Private committal services will be in Davenport Memorial Park.   Memorials may be made to the North Scott Food Pantry.  Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kathleen was born December 14, 1936 in Iowa City, a daughter of John W. & Francis M. (Ebner) Coleman.  Raised as a farm girl she attended Wayland High School graduating in 1955.  Kathleen loved music; she played the piano, drums and sang in the Finley Methodist Chapel choir.  Kathleen married Donald L. Grant at Finley Chapel in 1956.  They divorced in 1974.  Being a mother to her three children was one of her greatest joys in life.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, dancing and a darn good party with friends.  After retiring from Oscar Mayer with 28 years of service she spent her time going to movies, reading, lunching with friends, yoga, exercise classes, gardening and taking care of her home with her steadfast four-legged companion, Keegan, at her side.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Lynn M. Grant of Austin, Texas and Lori K. Grant of Plymouth, Minnesota.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John C. Grant, her brother, John W. Coleman and special friend Richard Gordon.
