Kathleen Viola McKnight, 84, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 7, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Quad-Cities Chapter of the American Diabetes Association or the Christian Center Church of Davenport.
She was born January 21, 1921 in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Fred & Dorothea (Kennison) Cook. She was united in marriage to Ralph Hartmann who preceded her in death in 1971. She was later united in marriage to Alvin L. McKnight in Davenport on February 7, 1974. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1992.
Kathleen was a Division Manager in the Housewares Department of Sears in Davenport, retiring in 1975 after 20 years of faithful service. In addition, she & her husband, Alvin owned & operated the Barge Inn in LeClaire, Iowa for many years.
She enjoyed playing cards with her family & friends and spent many enjoyable hours walking at the former Duck Creek Mall in Bettendorf. Above all, she especially treasured the times spent with her beloved great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her grandchildren, Mike Styvaert & his wife, Julie of Davenport, Jacob Hartmann & his wife, Dana of Augusta, Georgia and Karlene Stock & her husband, Ted of Augusta; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Charles Styvaert of Bettendorf; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Hartmann of Mt. Joy, Iowa.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Styvaert in 1998; her son, Marvin Hartmann in 2003; and her brother, Marvin Cook.
