Born Kathrine Ellen Doak on February 26, 1985 to Samuel J. Doak and Lisbeth Figueroa-Doak, she was affectionately known as “Katie-My-Lady” & “Katie Bug” by the family. After graduating from Davenport schools, she married Dan Rice (later divorced) and gave birth to two amazing children, Amelia & Landon. Kate’s life was devoted to her children; she was always striving to provide the best for them. Kate also enjoyed training and playing with her pet macaws, Diega & Skittles and energetic puppy, Roxy. She worked tirelessly to supply herself, her children & the ones she loved with life’s finest luxuries. Kate was a beautiful, bright young lady who was known to be a beacon of light for those around her. She was a strong woman, able to confront most situations with a smile and a witty comeback or sarcastic joke and had the ability to overcome most of life’s most challenging circumstances. Kate was very adventurous and loved to blow off steam by spending time at the gun range and had many successful skydiving adventures.
Kate’s family was large and her extended family even larger. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Those honored with keeping Kate’s memory alive are her father Sam (Beth) Doak, Leaf River, IL and mother, Lisbeth Figueroa, Davenport; children Amelia & Landon Rice; sisters, Desiree Border (Adam), Eryka (Dan) Driscoll, Heather Wiskow & Vanessa (Aaron) Hardy; brothers, Samuel H (Kari) Doak, Nicolas Doak (Mandy), Adam Doak (Ann Marie), Abraham Doak, Elijah Doak, & Shane Wiskow. Kate also leaves behind a maternal grandmother, Viola Pacheco and paternal grandparents Sam S. & Peggy Doak. She leaves behind 25 aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, boyfriend David Sparbel, ex-husband Dan Rice, special friend Bob Fangmann, honorary grandfather Warren Langwith and many, many more whom Kate touched thru her brief time on this earth. Kate was preceded in death by a sister, Krista Cuppy in 2001.
Memorials may be made to Daniel Rice for the further care and education of Amelia & Landon. We will all love and miss you so!
