Keith Wilson

Keith M. Wilson, 26, of Davenport, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Keith was born December 13, 1991 in Davenport.  He had faced many challenges in his life but was supported by those who loved him.  He was the first disabled runner in the first Bix Jr. and graduated from North Scott High School in 2012.

He enjoyed watching wrestling with his older brother and the Mickey Mouse Club with his younger brother.  His laugh and smile lit up a room and he kept his nurses and teacher on their toes.  He also loved to visit with his aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was baptized at home by Brother Darrel Solomon.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Julia Wilson; his brothers, Zachary Wilson and his companion, Danni Smith and Austin Wilson, all of Davenport; his sister, Nichole (Jacob ) Gunn of Urbandale, Iowa; his godmother, Deb Houston of Davenport; special cousins, Jacob Edwards of Davenport and Tabitha Fulkerson of Illinois; his best friend and mentor and whom helped Keith graduate high school, Walt Viering of Davenport; countless nurses over the years including Myrtle Graves, Tommy Henderson, Regina Reyes, Tina Maas, Debra Nierode and Shelly Frasier; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret Ball and Howard Wilson, Sr.; and a best friend, Kendrell Williams.

Keith’s family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Make-A-Wish foundation for Keith’s Disney cruise to the Bahamas, the Bob Vervaecke Memorial Fund and all of the doctors, nurses and staff he’s known throughout his lifetime, especially at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and Genesis Medical Centers.
