Kenneth K. Carter, 85, of Princeton, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Ken was born October 13, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Harrison & Lula (Strouse) Carter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea in 1953-54. He was united in marriage to Lowenne R. Osterberg on October 16, 1956 in Davenport.
Ken was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 39 years. Following his retirement, he was employed with Hy-Vee for 5 years. He was active in Boy Scouts for many years and his past memberships included the American Legion Buffalo Bill Post 347 of LeClaire and the Moose Lodge. He was also a volunteer fireman for Princeton for several years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lowenne; his daughter, Jolene Springsteen of Princeton; his sons, Bill Carter (Lavinna Kuberski) of Princeton and Paul (Cindy) Carter of Princeton; 9 grandsons; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Diana Brown of Florida.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ramona, Dorothy and Laura; his brothers, Gerald and Lee; and his son-in-law, Mark Springsteen.
