Kenneth "Speed" Heald

Graveside services for Kenneth “Speed” Heald, 89, of Bettendorf, IA, will be 10:30 am on Wednesday at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion #26, Davenport. Those wishing to attend are to meet at 9:45am on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. 

Kenneth passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. 

Kenneth was born on January 13, 1935, in Davenport, the son of Richard “Skip “and Wave (Swartz) Heald. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in `1953 where he was involved in various sports. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He married loni Schiff in July of 1957 where they enjoyed 67 years together. He loved his St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes and Dallas Cowboys. He loved to golf, and you could find him at Palmer Hills Golf course every Saturday. 

Survivors include his wife, Loni, daughters, Jodie (Sam) Metz of Davenport, Julie (Mike) Clark of Snow Hill, NC, son, Jeff (Christine) Heald of Bettendorf, grandchildren, Andrea, Brandon, Jasmine, Jordan, Justin, great-grandchildren, Gage, Emmalin, Brooklyn, Isabel, and Jessa. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dick and Bob, sisters, Janet and Joyce, daughter, Cindie and granddaughter, Heather.
