Kenneth Lee Spinsby, 82, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral and Masonic services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Private burial will be in Glendale Cemetery of LeClaire.  Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buffalo Bill Museum of LeClaire.

He was born on June 28, 1931 in Chamberlain, South Dakota, the son of George & Maxine (Hudson) Spinsby Ken was an 8th grade graduate of the one-room Stone School in rural LeClaire and a 1951 graduate of the LeClaire High School.

On November 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Darlene Marie Brand at the LeClaire Presbyterian Church.

Ken was employed by the Alcoa Company for 36 years and in early years, farmed with his father.

He was a 59 year member and past-master of Snow Masonic Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M. of LeClaire, a member and past Worthy Patron of the Silver Creek Chapter #302 of the Order of Eastern Star of LeClaire, a member of the Davenport Consistory and a member of the Kaaba Shrine.  In addition, he served on the Glendale Cemetery Board for many years and was a former member of the LeClaire Board of Adjustment.

Ken was a tireless volunteer and was always willing to lend a hand where help was needed.  He enjoyed making things work and repairing small gasoline engines.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marie; his grandson, Todd M. (Lorri) Snyder of St. James, Missouri; and five great-grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Merkel in 2004 and by his parents.
