Kenneth E. Wandt, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport and is now resting with God.
His funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 16, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born February 17, 1919 in Davenport, the son of Fred & Anna (Timmerman) Wandt. On June 28, 1942, he was united in marriage to Juanita R. Buckles in Kahoka, Missouri.
Kenneth was employed at the J. I. Case Company in Bettendorf, retiring in 1982 after 35 years of faithful service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an active member of the American Legion Post #26 of Davenport. He was also a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church of Davenport.
Ken loved square dancing and was a caller for 40 years. He also enjoyed camping, visiting the boat and chocolate. Some of his favorite times were spent on his back porch & talking with his neighbors.
He was a devoted grandfather & great-grandfather and deeply loved by his entire family.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Juanita; his daughter, Deborah (Miles) Ricketts of Blue Grass, Iowa; his grandchildren, Hallie, Amy (Brian) and Bryce; his great-grandchildren, Shayla, Carlos, Alysa & Zachary; his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Stan & Jacque Buckles of Bettendorf; four nephews & their families locally and a niece & her daughter in Missouri.
Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Viola; and his brother, Carl.
