Kenneth H. Spranger, 93, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Sparrow Hospital Pediatric Oncology Unit in Lansing, Michigan, or to the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
Ken was born September 13, 1916 in Davenport, the son of Walter O. & Leona L. (Thoeming) Spranger. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Clifton on October 7, 1939 in Davenport.
Ken had been a supervisor at Wonder Bread in Davenport for many years and he had retired as a supervisor at Long Manufacturing after fifteen years.
He was a member of Calvary Church of the Quad-Cities and a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, his family were the joy of his life. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening and will also be remembered as a hard worker.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of seventy years, Mary Louise; his daughter, Beverly Dillon of Dubuque, Iowa; his son and daughter-in-law, Ken & Diana Spranger of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers, Allen and Donald.
