Kenneth L. Becker, 58, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Viet Nam Veterans of America. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Ken was born July 4, 1947 in Davenport, the son of Walter & Jessie (DeFraties) Becker and was a graduate of Bettendorf High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Viet Nam with the 1st Cavalry Division. Upon his honorable discharge in 1968, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Air Medal.
On May 10, 1969, he was united in marriage to Colleen E. Miller in Bettendorf.
He was employed as a lineman for the Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company for 20 years, retiring several years ago.
Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and NARA Drag Racing.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Tim (Becky) Becker of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Jamie (Val) Becker of Orlando, Florida, Chris (Lauri) Becker and Tom (Nikki) Becker, all of New Windsor, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Jeremiah, T.J., Matthew & Samantha.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
