Kevin D. Derrickson, 34, a resident of Buffalo, Iowa died at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2011 following a courageous 3-year battle with lymphoma and leukemia.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
He was born March 16, 1977 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Donald D. “Doc” & Marie (Kacher) Derrickson, was a graduate of Davenport West High School and attended Scott Community College. Kevin was employed as a truck driver for Quint-City MOLO of Eldridge, Iowa and in earlier years, worked as a CNA on the surgical floor of Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
Kevin had a great interest in trains and often spent time along the railroad watching the trains as they traveled up and down the river.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Marie Derrickson of Buffalo; his sister, Kelly (Louie) Sheffler of Buffalo; his brother, Rich (Tessa) Derrickson of Buffalo; his niece, Mackenna Beamer of Buffalo; and his very special partner, Shane Riley of Buffalo.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Doc; and by his niece, Carlie.
