Kevin R. Carter, 50, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Princeton, Iowa died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Princeton Presbyterian Church where he was a member. His sons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in McCausland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born June 30, 1955 in Davenport, the son of Robert Edward & Verla Leora (Sage) Carter, was a 1973 graduate of North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa and attended Muscatine Community College. On March 29, 1975, he was united in marriage to Geri J. Conklin in Princeton.
Kevin farmed for 22 years near Princeton and later was employed at Greystone Manufacturing in Pleasant Valley, Iowa for 6 years.
He was a member of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. His family, especially his beloved grandchildren, was the joy of his life. Even though he will be sadly missed, his memory will remain alive forever in the hearts of those who knew & loved him.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Geri; his sons, Ryan of Bettendorf, Eric of Princeton, Airman First Class Adam, serving in the U.S. Air Force and Lance Corporal Jacob, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; his grandchildren, Gage, Breanne & Adam; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Scott & Connie Carter, Brian & Donna Carter and Tim & Kellie Carter, all of Princeton; his mother & step-father, Verla & Vern Wadhams of New Windsor, Illinois; his father, Robert Carter of Princeton; his “special” step-mother, Betty Carter of Princeton; seven nieces; five nephews; his parents-in-law, Art & Betty Conklin of Donahue, Iowa; and many other extended family members & friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his sister, Deena in 1995; and by his grandparents, Charles & Mildred Carter and Ethel Sage.
