Lahoma G. Cox, 83, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 18, 2008 at Bettendorf Christian Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Heart Failure Outpatient Clinic.
Lahoma was born July 21, 1924, the daughter of John C. & Lillie Mae (Thomas) Snyder. She was united in marriage to Clinton Dale Cox on October 28, 1940 in Princeton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1967.
Lahoma was briefly employed as a receptionist for the former Bettendorf Bank, but she was primarily a homemaker throughout her life. She babysat for many years and was involved with Care and Share at Bettendorf Christian Church where she was a member. Her support group was through the Genesis Heart Clinic and she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. She was also an avid Bettendorf Bulldogs fan and she enjoyed crocheting and spending time on her computer.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Dana (Neil) Phillips, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Debra Thomas, of Bettendorf; her sons, David (Carol Ann) Cox, of Peoria, Arizona, and Dennis (Tonya) Cox, of Bettendorf; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie; her step-mother, Bertie; her brother, Rev. Jerrell (Wanda) Snyder; and her sisters, Vera (Greg) Lane, and Claudetta (Dave) Neitz.
The family would like to express special thanks to the friends and staff of the Genesis Heart Failure Outpatient Clinic and the staff of the Cardiac Step-Down Unit at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
