Larry Harris

Larry G. Harris, 75, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Larry was born January 29, 1943 in Davenport, the son of Marvin D. & Evelyn G. (Lopshire) Harris.  He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1962 and with the United States Army from 1966 to 1967.

Larry was united in marriage to Judith A. Phares (Gill) on November 23, 1979 in Grayson County, Texas.

Larry was a maintenance crane operator at Alcoa for thirty years.  He was an avid collector; model trains, die cast tractors and die cast banks.  He enjoyed camping, road trips, boating and fishing in Texas.  A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was protective and supportive of his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Holly & Mark Hunt of Keokuk, Iowa, Angela & Bill Parsons of Silvis, Illinois and Alisa Phares of Davenport; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony & JoLynne Phares of LeClaire; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; several cousins and an extended family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
