Larry Leon Lafoon, 75, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Long Grove, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the family.
Born on August 7, 1939 in Cincinnati, Iowa, Larry was the son of Leslie Leon and Pearl (Hudson) Lafoon. In 1968 in Hannibal, Missouri, Larry married Nancy Guy. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1999.
Larry was a retired owner/operator over-the-road truck driver and worked as a maintenance man at Ted’s Mobile Home Park. He was a member of the Silver Spurs Saddle Club and the Quad City Cruisers. Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, old cars and spending time with his family. He loved singing karaoke.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Vickie (Mark) Woodford of Grand Mound, Terri (Denny Denhartog) Keith of Eldridge, Dee (Mike) Barnard of Walcott, Shellie (Gene Waddell) Moss of Davenport and Bob (Tami) Guy of Grand Mound; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; his long-time special friend and caretaker, Gail Braet of Davenport; brother, Donnie Lafoon of Payson, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Leslie; and three siblings in infancy.
