Funeral services for Larry A. Durr, 72, of Davenport will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 7, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Princeton, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.
Larry died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport.
Larry was born May 4, 1937 in Davenport, the son of Amand C. & Cleopatra F. Durr. He graduated in 1955 from Central High School in Davenport. He served eight years in the Naval Reserves while helping his father at East End Sales and Service and working at Eagle Foods until 1959. Larry then moved to Princeton where he was employed at the Carver Saw Mill and later at Caterpillar Tractor Company, Ennis Business Forms and the metal cutting business in Georgia. Upon moving back to Iowa, he lived with his best friend’s family in Princeton. His last residence was a care center in Davenport.
Larry had faith in the Lord Jesus, he loved to draw, listen to music and spending time with his friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his best friend, Duane Pillard; his brother Dale (Karen) Durr of Medford, New York; his sisters, Elaine Frieburger of Davenport and Shelly (Robert) Beeck of Lost Nation, Iowa; eight nieces; four nephews; and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and a few cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
