Larry E. Decker

Larry E. Decker, 73, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, Bettendorf where he was a member or to Genesis VNA Hospice. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born September 30, 1930 in Thomson, Illinois, the son of Louis & Bertha (Leavins) Decker. On January 15, 1982, he was united in marriage to Bernice Browning at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Larry was employed as a budget analyst for Headquarters Command, ARMCOM at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1985 after 34 years of service.
He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bernice; his daughters, Teresa Decker of Aiken, South Carolina and Lynne Banks of Moline, Illinois; his sons, Steven Decker of Gilbert, Arizona and David Decker of Port Orchard, Washington; his step-daughters, Kathleen Wagner of Kansas City, Missouri, Sue Burggraf of Middleburg, Florida and Bonnie Boehl of LeClaire, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Louis Decker of Brookeland, Texas and Robert Decker of Clermont, Florida.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, James; and his brothers, Maynard and John.
