Larry L. Kane, 68, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 1, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born November 2, 1941 in Newton, Iowa, the son of Lenard & Zella (Woods) Kane.
Larry worked as a laborer & bricklayer tender with the Laborer’s International Union of North American, Local #309 of Rock Island, Illinois for over 30 years.
He was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128 of Bettendorf and a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Izaac Walton League.
Among the things he enjoyed were pool & dart leagues, NASCAR Racing, drag & stock car racing, fishing, hunting & camping. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Bettendorf Bulldogs.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Taina Mahalek of Rock Island, Illinois; his grandchildren, Michael (Tammi) Melchi and Gabrielle Mahalek; his great-granddaughter; Kylie Melchi; his sisters, Carolyn Sue Swanson of Davenport, Verna (Raymond) Goddard of Escondido, California and Connie (Charles) Fleetwood of Bettendorf; his brothers, William “Bill” Kane of Princeton, Iowa, Marvin D. Kane Sr. of Bettendorf and Danny Ray (Shireen) Kane of Woodhull, Illinois; a very special friend, Pat Klipka of Bettendorf; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Hunsucker; and his brothers, Jack Harper and Richard Kane.
