Larry W. Zumwalt, 59, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
He was born May 28, 1944 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Herman Norton & Ruth Virginia (Perkins) Zumwalt.
Larry was employed as a painter & inspector for the J. I. Case Company of Bettendorf, retiring in 2000 after many years of faithful service.
Larry was a faithful member of the National Rifle Association and loved animals of all kinds. He especially loved his cats. During his spare time, he enjoyed working on and restoring automobiles and had a substantial collection of Franklin Mint Automobiles.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters & sons-in-law, Sue Meyer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christina & Jack Hancock of Bettendorf and Katie & Kevin Ziegler of Davenport; his grandchildren, Chris & Robby Andrews and Michael, Kim & Matthew Stafford; his mother, Ruth Brockman of Columbia, Missouri; his sister, Rita Hayes of Joplin, Missouri; and his brother, Charlie Zumwalt of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his father.
