Laura L. Wickham

Laura L. Wickham, 73, a resident of Bettendorf died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at her home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.
Laura was born April 5, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Amelia (Meyer) Klemme. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Wickham in Caledonia, Minnesota on June 15, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1997.
Laura worked as a cook at the Davenport Country Club for many years and later worked at the Head Housekeeper at the Voyager Inn in Davenport.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Bambi (Frank) Anderson of Bettendorf and Lori (Bill) Hightower of Sioux City, Iowa; her son, Robert (Mary) Wickham of Bettendorf; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister Rosemary Solem of Stewartsville, Minnesota; and her sisters-in-law, Betty Jagerson of Delmar, Iowa and Eleanor Klemme of Campbellsport, Wisconsin.
Along with her husband, Robert she is preceded in death by her brothers, Kenny, Art and Clarence and her sister, Lavere.
Laura’s family would like to extend a special thanks to her grandson, Eric and his wife, Amanda for all their support and care giving this past year and a half during her illness. Also, special thanks to Ann Duncan and the Trinity visiting nurses and staff.
